I sit, hear and think...BOREDOM?

I sit, hear and think of how is boredom possible. I always had a spirit of curiosity as much as they said it killed the cat; well I believe that cat being one happy cat before it died or if not happy at least always having an adventure to embark on. In a world filled with so many wonders, even in one's immediate environment, it's impossible to say there is nothing to do. Ok so what about those that say it's not about not having anything to do but it's about not being interested in anything that is there to do. Well my friend if you fall in the category of the latter then ahm....I can't help you. In fact no one can I believe, because it's like the old saying that only in the abundance of water does a fool remain thirsty. I mean get up and start living, go do base jumping or break a speed limit, read a book or create something! JUST DO SOMETHING! Quit being bored and start living a little. That is all.

Rudyard Kipling - If

If

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or, being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or, being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise;

If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with triumph and disaster
And treat those two imposters just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools;

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on";

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings - nor lose the common touch;
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run -
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man my son!

Holding firm when everything else changes

Here I was playing a game of chess, both sides were steadily building; my opponent was building to attack my King. I was building to gain control of the centre of the board. In one move the opponent with his Queen had me thinking if my game plan was sound; keeping in mind it was a 5 minute match. After taking a few seconds to quickly evaluate the strength of my opponent's move and re-evaluating my position I realized that all was not lost and in fact my opponent had basically handed me the game. I regained my confidence, stood my ground and continued with my original game plan, eventually winning.
In life one will come upon surprise attacks unforeseen enemies and trials, this is not the time to 'jump ship' or retreat. Often times we are in the position to succeed, to conquer, to overpower. Thomas Edison said it best, "Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up."

Everyday I have a new Heaven to be a part of
New glory to bask in and new hells to conquer
A new choice to be a foe or lover
To grow or to wither

A forward I received via BlackBerry messenger.

Forwards for me normally have no significance, they come and they go. However after reading one that was sent to me this morning I have to say this was a breath of fresh air indeed that I believe all will appreciate:

"There was a blind girl who hated herself because she was blind. She hated everyone, except her loving boyfriend. He was always there for her. She told her boyfriend, 'If I could only see the world, I will marry you.' One day,someone donated a pair of eyes to her. When the bandages came off, she was able to see everything, including her boyfriend. He asked her,' Now that you can see the world, will you marry me?' The girl looked at her boyfriend and saw that he was blind. The sight of his closed eyelids shocked her. She hadn't expected that. The thought of looking at them the rest of her life led her to refuse to marry him. Her boyfriend left in tears and days later wrote a note to her saying: 'Take good care of your eyes, my dear, for before they were yours, they were mine.'This is how the human brain often works when our status changes. Only a very few remember what life was like before, and who was always by their side in the most painful situations. Life Is a Gift Today before you say an unkind word - Think of someone who can't speak. Before you complain about the taste of your food - Think of someone who has nothing to eat.. Before you complain about your husband or wife - Think of someone who's crying out to GOD for a companion. Today before you complain about life - Think of someone who is no longer alive .... Before whining about the distance you drive Think of someone who walks the same distance with their feet. And when you are tired and complain about your job - Think of the unemployed, the disabled, and those who wish they had your job. And when depressing thoughts seem to get you down - Put a smile on your face and think: you're alive and still around."

Reality

The truth is one day you are going to wake up to a reality. Whether the reality is that what you believed to had been reality was not so or that a reality was in your face that you were totally unaware of up until this point, you will wake up to one. I believe that's the only absolute about this life, that there is always a reality to be faced.

Life

Life in my opinion isn't something you put in a box or seek to explain solely from a certain discipline or viewpoint; say scientifically, mathematically, philosophically, religiously or psychologically. While these instruments provide great insight, seeing the world from one eye robs it of its many colours and facets. Understand that life is greater than any one understanding just as the vastness of the ocean gives every explorer a different adventure. Taking this mystery(life) and discovering it from different views is one thing but what should be avoided is taking one view to define the mystery. That is what gives rise to a dogmatic nature. Whichever path you choose on this journey of discovery, leave room for another to walk with you and look across to greet/encourage those on their path/journey so as to not be surprised if and when you see those same faces at the final destination or significant point.
